Chakrata, February 13, 2025 — A wave of pride and celebration has swept through Buraswa village in Chakrata tehsil as local youth Satyam Rawat Bharti played a key role in helping Uttarakhand’s handball team secure a bronze medal in the 38th National Games.
Satyam, originally from a farming family in Buraswa, has been nurturing his sporting journey from Dehradun, where he lives with his uncle. It was in Dehradun that Satyam discovered his passion for handball, gradually progressing from district-level competitions to state and national tournaments. His talent and dedication earned him opportunities to represent Uttarakhand in prestigious competitions across India, including cities like Bengaluru.
At the ongoing National Games, Uttarakhand’s handball team delivered a strong performance, finishing in third place and earning bronze medals. Satyam’s contribution to the team was recognized as instrumental, with local leaders and residents praising his commitment and sportsmanship.
When Satyam returned home with his medal, his family and neighbors welcomed him with great joy. His father, Arvind Rawat, a proud farmer, expressed deep pride in his son’s achievements, calling it a moment of honor not just for the family, but for the entire Jaunsar-Bawar region.
Community leaders and representatives also applauded the young athlete, saying his success would inspire many other youngsters in the hills to pursue sports seriously and dream big.
