Dehradun/Champawat, May 30 — A crucial review meeting of the National Health Mission (NHM) was recently held in Champawat, Uttarakhand, with a sharp focus on improving the quality of healthcare services, preparing for seasonal illnesses, and ensuring better care for the elderly population in hilly regions.
Senior officials from the district administration and the health department participated in the session, where multiple ongoing health initiatives were assessed. Discussions covered the performance of the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) for free child treatment, expansion of mental health services, promotion of institutional deliveries, and reducing ambulance response times.
Special attention was also given to the Ayushman Bharat scheme, with officials evaluating the accessibility and efficiency of free treatment and diagnostic services being provided under the initiative. Infrastructure developments in healthcare facilities were also reviewed.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the directive to prioritize healthcare services for the elderly, particularly in remote and mountainous regions where access can be challenging. With the upcoming travel season and the potential rise in vector-borne diseases like dengue, the health department has been instructed to remain on high alert and strengthen preventive measures across the district.
Prominent attendees included District President Mr. Govind Samant, District Magistrate Mr. Navneet Pandey, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Devesh Chauhan, and MLA representative Mr. Prakash Tiwari, among other officials.
The meeting concluded with a consensus on the need to implement all health programs at the grassroots level with greater efficiency, ensuring that quality healthcare reaches every resident on time.
