March 18, 2025 | Dehradun:
In a significant administrative move, the Uttarakhand government has decided to transfer all government employees who have been posted in the same location for several years. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed Chief Secretary Radha Raturi to take the necessary steps to implement the decision.
The directive comes as part of the government’s effort to enhance efficiency, promote transparency, and curb complacency in state departments. Officials confirmed that a detailed timetable has already been issued, with the entire transfer process to be completed by June 10.
According to government sources, this initiative will not only break stagnation in departments but also provide equal opportunity for postings across regions. Departments have been asked to identify employees who have exceeded the prescribed tenure in one location and submit reports accordingly.
CM Dhami emphasized that the move is not punitive but rather a systematic step towards better governance. He stated, “To ensure dynamic and transparent administration, rotational postings are essential. This decision will help improve accountability and reduce favoritism.”
The decision has received mixed reactions from employees—while some have welcomed the rotation policy as a fairness measure, others have expressed concerns over potential dislocation.
Further guidelines regarding exceptions, if any, are expected to be released in the coming days.
