Dehradun, February 16, 2025 — In a celebration of academic excellence and cultural heritage, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today honoured 261 students associated with Sanskrit education during a special event organized by the Department of Sanskrit Education at the Chief Sevak Sadan in the Chief Minister’s residence.
Among the honorees were 24 meritorious students from Class 10 and 12 who received the Sanskrit Student Talent Award for the academic year 2024–25. Students who secured the top three positions were awarded cash prizes — ₹5,100 for first place, ₹4,100 for second, and ₹3,100 for third.
Addressing the gathering, CM Dhami emphasized the importance of Sanskrit as the root of India’s ancient knowledge systems and culture. “Sanskrit is not just a language; it is the key to our civilizational wisdom. Encouraging the youth to study Sanskrit ensures we keep this timeless heritage alive,” he said.
The Chief Minister further praised the students for their dedication and commended the teachers and parents for their role in nurturing academic excellence. He assured continued government support for Sanskrit education in the state, both in terms of policy and funding.
The event was marked by a cultural display of Sanskrit shlokas and traditional hymns, creating an atmosphere of reverence for India’s classical language. The Department of Sanskrit Education also announced plans to introduce more scholarships and incentives in the future to encourage Sanskrit learning at all levels.
The program concluded with a group felicitation and blessings from senior educators and officials present at the occasion.
