Dehradun, May 30, 2025:
Uttarakhand’s Health Minister, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, participated in a high-level meeting chaired by Union Health Minister Shri J.P. Nadda via video conferencing on Friday. The session brought together health ministers from eight states and union territories to review progress on crucial national health missions, including the TB and Measles-Rubella elimination campaigns, the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), and utilization of funds under the 15th Finance Commission.
During the meeting, Dr. Rawat shared updates on Uttarakhand’s efforts under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, highlighting the recently concluded 100-day intensified TB elimination drive. He noted that the campaign was carried out with strong community participation, especially focusing on tribal areas and regions with high TB burden, with clear targets and local-level action.
Dr. Rawat also detailed progress under PM-ABHIM, emphasizing the state government’s work in strengthening health infrastructure, upgrading wellness centers, expanding disease surveillance systems, and providing regular training for healthcare workers.
Addressing efforts toward Measles and Rubella elimination, Dr. Rawat said the state is making steady progress through regular immunization drives, improved case tracking, and inter-departmental coordination.
In light of potential future COVID-19 challenges, he assured that Uttarakhand is well-prepared — with enhanced oxygen supply systems, stockpiles of essential medicines, and continuous upskilling of medical staff.
Union Health Minister Shri J.P. Nadda acknowledged the commitment shown by states, particularly appreciating Uttarakhand’s focused approach. He stressed the importance of community participation, frequent reviews, recalibrated strategies, increased NAAT testing, and effective implementation of nutritional support schemes.
He also reiterated the national goal of reducing the TB incidence rate below 47 per lakh population and mortality rate below 3, calling for early detection and comprehensive testing as key to success.
Senior officials from Uttarakhand’s Health Department were also present at the meeting, including Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, Director General of Health Dr. Sunita Tamta, and NHM Director Dr. Manu Jain.
The central government praised Uttarakhand’s continued efforts and urged sustained momentum to further strengthen healthcare delivery in the state.
