The sacred Chardham Yatra 2025 is all set to begin on April 30, with the ceremonial opening of the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines. The revered Kedarnath Dham will open on May 2, followed by Badrinath Dham on May 4, officially marking the start of one of India’s most spiritually significant pilgrimages.
In a notable step toward environmental awareness, the Uttarakhand government will also launch the ‘Green Chardham Yatra’ campaign this year. The initiative aims to encourage eco-friendly practices, reduce plastic usage, and promote tree plantation among pilgrims. Visitors will be urged to plant saplings in memory of their ancestors and participate in keeping the pilgrimage route clean and sustainable.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recently emphasized that the campaign aligns with the state’s vision of combining spirituality with sustainability. Special focus will also be placed on waste management, sanitation, and eco-tourism awareness during the Yatra.
Preparations are in full swing across the four shrine towns, with improvements in road connectivity, health services, and security being carried out to ensure a safe and smooth experience for pilgrims.
The Chardham Yatra attracts lakhs of devotees each year, and 2025 is expected to witness even higher footfall due to enhanced infrastructure and the growing spiritual consciousness among travelers.
