Uttarakhand, traditionally known for its religious and general tourism, is now expanding its horizons under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The state government, in alignment with the CM’s vision, is integrating adventure tourism into its offerings. As part of this initiative, the tourism department is offering free paragliding courses to more than 700 young individuals.

Paragliding tourism is already gaining traction in locations like Bhimtal in Nainital district and Maldevta in Dehradun. To tap into this growing demand, the tourism department is not only scouting for new paragliding spots but is also providing free training to local youths. This move aims to equip them with the necessary skills to earn a livelihood through adventure tourism, while also contributing to the overall growth of Uttarakhand’s tourism sector.

As part of the initiative, the government is conducting five different courses in basic and guided paragliding training in Tehri. A total of 15 batches of trainees are being provided with free accommodation, food, and training under this program. In the first phase, the tourism department aims to train 741 youths, including 124 women.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized that there are immense opportunities for self-employment in Uttarakhand’s adventure tourism sector. With the focus on paragliding, white-water rafting, and mountaineering, the state is striving to create a pool of well-trained individuals. The government’s goal is to ensure that Uttarakhand not only flourishes as a hub for adventure tourism but also maintains high safety standards through adequate trained manpower in the coming years.
