CMO Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat Urges Effective Dengue Prevention Measures

Calls for Coordination with Line Departments for Microplan Implementation

Appeals to Public to Stay Vigilant Against Dengue for the Next Two Months

Dehradun, September 12, 2024

In light of rising dengue risks across the state, all Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) have been advised to remain vigilant. Instructions have been issued to coordinate with district administration and line departments to implement effective measures based on microplans in dengue-affected and high-risk areas. The Directorate of Health Services will monitor these actions daily.

Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Minister for Health and Medical Education, informed the media that the state government is actively working to control dengue. Despite effective control this year, caution remains necessary. He noted that dengue cases have been reported in some regions, prompting all CMOs to maintain alertness. A concerted effort is being urged to control dengue through intensive campaigns in affected areas.

Dr. Rawat emphasized that departmental officials should prepare microplans at the district level, form teams, and conduct continuous monitoring and public awareness campaigns in each town and ward. The Directorate of Health Services has been tasked with daily monitoring of dengue prevention campaigns across districts.

The minister also highlighted that CMOs had previously been instructed to carry out intensive source reduction activities, fogging, indoor space spraying, awareness campaigns, and inter-departmental coordination. Since April, teams have been conducting door-to-door visits to eliminate dengue larvae and raise awareness. To date, 24,16,624 homes have been surveyed by ASHAs, and 7,37,316 homes by dengue volunteers.

Dr. Rawat urged the public to remain vigilant over the next two months due to the rainy season and to prevent the breeding of dengue larvae around their homes.
