Swati S. Bhadauria, Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM), Uttarakhand, conducted an extensive inspection of various health units in Udham Singh Nagar district. The inspection began with a visit to the District Hospital Rudrapur, where she thoroughly examined all wards, the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU), labor room, emergency services, mammography, radiology, DIPHL lab, free testing schemes, tele-radiology services, and OPD rooms.
During her visit, she also reviewed the dialysis center at the District Hospital, which conducts over 700 dialysis sessions every month. Given the high volume of patients, Bhadauria was informed of the challenges faced by patients due to the overwhelming demand. In response, she directed the Chief Medical Officer to send a proposal to the Mission Office for setting up additional dialysis centers in other medical units across the district.
Bhadauria further reviewed the cleanliness and sanitation facilities, including the toilets, at the District Hospital. She also inspected ongoing construction work for a new critical care block, offering essential guidance and instructions for its timely completion. Following this, she conducted a physical and financial review of various NHM programs at the Chief Medical Officer’s office. She instructed that vacant positions under NHM should be filled immediately after the election code of conduct ends.
One of the key points Bhadauria emphasized during the review was the urgent need to address anemia among pregnant women. She stressed the implementation of the T3 strategy—Test, Treat, Talk—which focuses on the timely detection, treatment, and counseling of anemia. Bhadauria directed officials to ensure the availability of necessary supplies for anemia testing and treatment at health centers. She further emphasized the importance of equipping these centers with adequate resources to manage severe anemia effectively, along with strict monitoring and compliance of the resources needed for this initiative.
Additionally, the Mission Director reviewed the progress of various programs being run in the district, including the Janani Suraksha Yojana, ASHA DBT, Family Planning, NCDs, and Quality Improvement programs. She instructed that all ASHA incentives and beneficiary payments under DBT be made promptly.
During her visit to the District TB Center, Bhadauria reviewed the implementation of the National TB Eradication Program and checked the availability of TB medicines at the State Drug Store. She was assured that all required medications were available and instructed the District TB Officer to ensure timely updates to higher authorities to maintain uninterrupted supply of TB medicines.
Lastly, Bhadauria visited the Ayushman Aarogya Mandir in Chutki Deoria and provided necessary instructions to the concerned officials.

This visit underlines the commitment of the National Health Mission to improving healthcare services in Uttarakhand, with a special focus on anemia management and the enhancement of medical infrastructure across the district.
