The Uttarakhand government has initiated strict measures to identify and deport foreign nationals, particularly those from Pakistan and Bangladesh, who are living illegally in the state. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to accelerate verification drives across the region to ensure such individuals are traced and sent back without delay.
In a high-level review meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of tenant verification, especially in sensitive areas and districts bordering other states. Authorities have been instructed to impose penalties on landlords who fail to verify their tenants through proper legal channels.
With the annual Char Dham Yatra approaching, the government is also ramping up security measures along pilgrimage routes. Dhami stressed the need for heightened vigilance and strict monitoring of suspicious individuals to ensure the safety of devotees and the general public.
The Chief Minister stated that maintaining internal security is a top priority and that no compromise will be made when it comes to illegal residency.
