Dehradun, February 20, 2025 — In a landmark development, Uttarakhand’s Finance Minister Premchand Aggarwal presented a historic budget of ₹1,01,175.33 crore for the financial year 2025–26 in the state assembly on Thursday. This marks the first time the state’s annual budget has crossed the ₹1 lakh crore threshold, representing a 13.38% increase from the previous year.
Delivering his budget speech that lasted nearly 1 hour and 20 minutes, the Finance Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to building a strong and self-reliant Uttarakhand as part of a developed India. He reiterated the state’s resolve to contribute meaningfully to the national vision through a strategy rooted in knowledge and the “NaMo Mantra” — a reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of development and governance.
Highlighting the remarkable fiscal growth over the years, Aggarwal pointed out that the size of the state budget has grown 24 times since Uttarakhand’s formation in 2000. He credited prudent financial management and strategic planning for this consistent expansion.
Key sectors receiving focused attention in the new budget include education, healthcare, infrastructure development, tourism, and youth employment. Aggarwal mentioned that the government aims to ensure inclusive growth by promoting welfare schemes, technological advancement, and investment-friendly policies.
The budget reflects a blend of ambition and fiscal discipline, laying a roadmap for accelerated development while maintaining financial stability. The state government’s vision, according to Aggarwal, is to transform Uttarakhand into a modern, efficient, and welfare-oriented state that can serve as a model for the rest of the country.
This financial plan, the minister added, is not just about numbers — it’s a commitment to the people of Uttarakhand and a step toward shaping a brighter, stronger future.
