The shop, run under the name “Your Daily Basket Departmental Store,” had been facing consistent opposition from local residents.
Villagers had been raising objections for several weeks, claiming that the liquor shop was situated dangerously close to several schools, colleges, and coaching centers. Their concerns were validated during a joint administrative inspection, which revealed that the shop was located within a residential zone — with a school just 50 meters away.
The official order to cancel the license stated that both parties were given the opportunity to present their side. Residents argued that the location of the shop violated zoning norms and posed a risk to the educational environment and social fabric of the area. They also pointed out discrepancies between the boundaries shown in the license application and the actual site conditions.
